As long as I can remember, everyone has told me how business slows in July. As I have informally done over the past four years or so, I need to now, on the record, call "bullshit." We are busier than ever here and I am hearing the same from just about everyone I speak to. Think about this:
• Not everyone goes on vacation at the same time.
• We are always getting busier because we are getting more emails that distract us and create more work.
• If you are spending some time on social media, that is making you busy too.
Several years ago we decided to do a big evening event in July and many said that it would not be successful. It was very successful, well attended and full of sponsors.
I do think that business slows down a bit in August as more people tend to go on vacation…
What does all this mean? Let your competitors slow down in July. In the meantime you shouldn't.
Agree?

Hah! My blog traffic has slowed this month. I was all prepared to blame it on this effect, but now I'll have to suck it up and post better content!
Cheers,
B

I think business slows down every July. I've been in business for myself for three years now and business is almost at a standstill in July. As soon as August hits, business starts picking up. It's the 31st and I just got calls today from 9 customers ready to start up business. I did approximately 20% of a typical month in July this year.
