As small business owners, we have to get involved in a lot more detail than is optimal for a CEO. So we get stuck in the small stuff and can't think big as much as we need to. Everyone has heard that it is important to step back and think big without the clutter of day-to-day activity. But another thing that often holds us back is a lack of resources; the right employee, money etc.
The reality is many of those resources that we lack are in fact available. We can hire consultants on a part-time basis for many tasks and initiatives. And we can get credit lines and loans to invest in new projects. But still we hesitate... The question is, how badly to you want to get away from "business as normal" and how much risk are you willing to take to do so?
